Nearly half of teachers work one-on-one with students who require accommodations. In celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we’re building on that work to share new research that speaks to the accessibility needs of today’s classrooms.

Keeping educators and learners fully engaged in the flow of teaching and learning is next to impossible when your EdTech isn’t working together seamlessly. That’s why Microsoft is investing in integration with partner learning platforms—to ensure that both teachers and students have a great experience with our collaboration and learning tools. Now, you can access to Microsoft Teams and OneDrive capabilities right within many LMS applications, letting you connect and collaborate via desktop, mobile, or web devices. We've worked with our LMS partners to create a suite of tools using the Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) standard that brings the best of Microsoft directly into your LMS, including OneDrive LTI, Teams Meetings LTI, and Teams Classes LTI.

The move to online learning during the pandemic, followed by the slow and unsteady return to in-person and hybrid instruction, has permanently altered how educators create and share learning content. As students return to classrooms, technology has been further integrated into the overall education experience. Microsoft’s EdTech partner ecosystem plays a key role in how Microsoft can successfully serve our education industry customers around the world, so each year we meet to collectively discuss where the education industry is going, consider opportunities for the Microsoft Education Partner community, and share insights into Microsoft’s Education business strategy. The 16th Global Education Partner Summit (GEPS), held virtually from April 26th-28th, allowed Microsoft to connect with more than 1000 education industry partners to explore how we’ve already been able to identify opportunities and innovate to solve needs and advance education globally, and how we’ll do so in the future.

Since the return to in-person learning, educators have been working to evaluate students’ knowledge levels compared to pre-pandemic benchmarks, along with how to help students catch up, keep up, and get ahead. To support these efforts, Microsoft Education has commissioned a series of “Accelerate Learning Kits” to introduce teachers to free and easy-to-use tools and features that can help every learner achieve more. In this, the first of five posts highlighting the individual kits, we’ll take a look at “Accelerate Learning with Workplace Math Skills” to see how Math Assistant in OneNote for Education provides multiple accessible methods for students to write, solve, and practice equations.
